Max Mosely had his private life printed on news of the world, and if he took it to court it would cost him£10's of thousands if he won and over £1,000,000 if he lost. the damage is already done for him and in court it gets rehersed again with more media to film and record it so there is no way of him winning and the public associates him with nazi sex orgys. Also the internet alows the stories to go world wide.This also shows that not everyone can afford to pay all the money in the courts so not everyone could take it that far.
Mr Jefferies was supected of killing Jo Yeates, but he didn't and he was subject to a lot of abuse from the media ranging from him being a peeping tom or a killer.
The pcc did nothing about these cases as max mosely went to court and Mr Jefferies stories could have been stopped after the first story was published as there were 8 stories over all that affected Jefferies.
